Kundalini Yoga (All Levels)
A traditional form of kriya yoga brought to the west by Yogi Bhajan that utilizes breath, movement, angles and sound to awaken energy flowing in the spine, the chakra system and the subtle bodies. Classes include a kundalini yoga set, a meditation and mantra that work directly to strengthen and balance the nervous system and the endocrine system while raising consciousness.
Meditation in Kundalini Yoga contains specific techniques that will help you overcome mental and emotional barriers. It uses breath, mantra, mudras, focus and lecture to develop determination and grit. There is a myth that when you meditate you should be able to quiet your mind. The mind generates thousands of thoughts per second and when you begin a meditation practice you will become very aware of what is going on in the background of your mind. Distractions are the rule. Have patience with yourself and allow the process to clean out any negativity that may come up.
Naad Yoga (All Levels)
Naad Yoga is a simple yet powerful yogic practice that is generally understood as the Yoga of Sound. Naada (also spelled Nada) a Sankskrit word (pronounced Naad) means to flow. In a Yogic context it means the flow of consciousness. In Naad yoga sound is used as a focal point of awareness to retrace the flow of consciousness back to the Source. According to ancient yogic texts, Naada Brahman (Transendental Sound) is the Seed of the manifested world. From the visible, material world to the invisible, subtle realms, Naad is flowing in all things, living and nonliving, in trees, grass, animals and everywhere.
